The Mountbatten MedalThe Mountbatten Medal was instituted in 1951 by the Society's then Grand President, The Earl of Mountbatten of Burma and its annual award is made for the most gallant rescue or rescue attempt undertaken throughout the Commonwealth by the holder of a Royal Life Saving Society Award. Her sudden and unexpected death was a great sadness to the RLSS, but something positive came about in the form of an award to be given annually for the most commendable resuscitation case by a young person under 18 years brought to the notice of the RLSS each year. In developing nations a valid nomination may be made by an official RLSS representative through the RLSS Commonwealth Office. |
