The NBLQ qualification in the UK & Ireland is designed to be generic and is accepted as the standard qualification for Beach Lifeguards on most UK beaches.
The NBLQ qualification is a Foundation Module and experience and in-service training is of equal importance therefore Specialist add-on modules have been developed. As all beach environments are not the same Risk Assessment will highlight key features and training requirements that Beach Operators need to focus on and this in due turn will highlight the Specialist Modules required for that environment.
The NBLQ Includes:
Beach Lifeguard theory - Teaching of the theories and practices of Beach Lifeguarding, most of which relates to the primary role of a lifeguard in preventing incidents
Open Water rescue skills - candidates will gain experience using a range of equipment to perform simulated rescues in the sea, including the torpedo buoy and a range of rescue boards
Life Support - candidates will receive thorough training in resuscitation techniques for adults, children and babies up to level 3, RLSS UK’s highest life support award. Candidates can also be trained in Extended Life Support which is the use of Automated External Defibrillators and oxygen
